Midfielders Kyle Bekker and Jackson each scored a goal and an assist as the San Francisco Deltas defeated the East Bay FC Stompers 2-1 in a pre-season scrimmage Saturday at Beach Chalet.
The game was a friendly match between the NPSL’s Stompers, who called San Francisco home from 2012-2016 before moving to Hayward, and the Deltas who are preparing for their first season.
Bekker, set up the first goal in the 10th minute sending a header across the box that was finished by Jackson.
The Stompers Thomas Rodda equalized a short time later.
Just before the half, Jackson returned the favor to Bekker setting him up with a low cross to reclaim the lead and the final result.
The Deltas, who debuted their away white jerseys at the game, play their final pre-season game against the USL’s Sacramento Republic on March 18th.
San Francisco will start their inaugural NASL season on March 25th at 7 pm playing against the Indy Eleven at Kezar Stadium. It was announced last week that the city will honor the team’s first game by lighting San Francisco City Hall and Coit Tower red the same night.
