After splitting their first two games on their east coast road trip, Bay Cities FC looked to get at least a point from Chattanooga FC. However, a Taylor Gray hat trick sent Bay Cities to a 4-2 defeat on Saturday night.
In the seventh minute, Gray struck for this first goal to give Chattanooga the early lead that carried into the break.
In the second half Bay Cities, FC head coach Anders Perez substituted Andrew Paoli and Adolfo Trujillo to give the visitors some more punch in the attack. The change created five goals for both teams in the final 45 minutes.
Five minutes into the second half a Bay Cities penalty in the box allowed Markus Naglestad to double Chattanooga’s lead. Several minutes later, Naglestad fed a goal to Taylor Gray for a 3-0 lead.
But Bay Cities showed their fighting spirit when an attack from Edson Cardona found the net in the 64th minute. Five minutes later, Ivan Valencia hit a long shot that found the far post to claw the visitors back within a goal.
However, Gray’s final strike of the night in the 79th minute gave Chattanooga the insurance goal they needed to claim the 4-2 victory.
Bay Cities return home to face Flower City Union on Wednesday, June 1.
