After a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the USL League 2 season started on Sunday, with two new local Bay Area teams facing each other for the first time.

Project 51O, the youth development team for the Oakland Roots, traveled to San Rafael to take on Marin FC Legends. It was the first time either club fielded a side in the league.

The game-winning goal was scored by Gabriel Bracken Serra in the second half when his free-kick from on top of the penalty box found the right corner of the goal.
