Bay Cities FC fared well in their two opening games on the road in NISA, earning a draw in both matches. Next up is the biggest week in the young club’s history.
First, Bay Cities FC open up their US Open Cup campaign against second division side Monterey Bay FC on Wednesday night.
The team will host the match at PayPal Park in San Jose, the home field of the MLS’s Earthquakes.
The kickoff for the US Open Cup second-round game is at 7:30 pm on April 6.
If Bay Cities can pull off the upset, it would be a big opportunity for the third division club to make a name in the SF Bay Area.
Monterey has lost three of its first four league games, all on the road. Their only victory was a comeback over the Oakland Roots.
Then on Saturday night Bay Cities will host its first league match when the club takes on Valley United at Sequoia Stadium in Redwood City.
The team will be hosting a pre-game block party before their home opener featuring food trucks. The kickoff for the home opener on April 9 will be at 7 pm.
Bay Cities has proved to have a stout defense through two matches. After tying LA Force, Cities also drew with Cal United Strikers in Orange County.
Their best chance to score last Saturday was from Rei Dorwart. In the 65th minute, he got on the end of a longball and broke into the box unmarked. However, his shot hit off the post.
